Run the Earth: Milos
Running the Greek Island of Milos is my favorite way to experience the island’s volcanic terrain, quiet fishing villages, and sweeping coastal roads. Routes range from short seaside loops to longer more epic stretches that connect beaches, hilltop towns, and rocky trails. Hydration is easy to manage thanks to the many cute cafés or mini-markets in each village and surrounding the more popular beaches. Begin Early - mornings are best to avoid the heat and crowds. Bring a good all terrain shoe for the rugged, mixed surfaces. With endless options to explore, running becomes both a practical way to move through Milos and a beautiful way to immerse yourself in its landscape and connect to the earth and rubble that makes this mining island so breathtaking.

INTRO
There’s no right or wrong way to explore Milos on foot. My only suggestion is to get some wheels (Scooter, ATV or Motorcycle) and don't be afraid to ask questions. A nice light trail shoe will take you everywhere. Some of the trail work does get a little sketchy so make sure you do your warm ups. Also, most places on the island take care but bring a few euro's with you just for peace of mind and adventure.

RUNNING ROUTES
After getting a bit familiar with the area, start to poke around these routes on Strava, or All-Trails.
- Pareos: the town of Pareos is where you'll arrive if you come by Ferry so this is my go-to welcome run: Strava Link.
- Track Work. Milos Municipal Stadium is open to the public - when I was there it was free to use, with a proper track, weight room, and even a basketball court. Located here.
- Sarakiniko loop (from O!Hamos) — about 5 mi, pave to road. Strava Link.
- Sarakiniko to Mandrakia. 3 Miles, Adventurous With Some Climbing. Strava Link.
- Kleftiko: For the Adventurous: You'll need an ATV to access the first part of this trail, unless you want to do a proper gravel road marathon. Kleftiko is one of the most iconic beaches you could check out. The whole day is an adventure if you ride out. Bring a homie, and some water (and some goggles). Some of the most incredible time you'll have in and out of the water. Watch out for pit vipers. Strava Link.

WATER & HYDRATION
Always bring water and be prepared to not encounter any BUT Milos makes hydration easy. Tons of cute beach-side bars and stands for water and nutrition.

TAKE CARE
Remember to take care as you travel. If you are feeling extra kind, pack extra water for the cats. If you are feeling extra tired, take a break and jump off a cliff into the sea. If you are feeling free, keep going and don't wonder why.
